For over 40 years, General Motors used a single 8-lug standard (8x6.5"). However, in 2011, they engineered two new metric patterns to handle increased towing capacities on their heavy-duty pickups.

1. The Classic Standard: 8x6.5" (8x165.1mm)
Also known as 8x165.1mm, this is the most common pattern in history. It was used on virtually every 8-lug GM vehicle from the mid-1960s until the 2011 chassis redesign.
  • Silverado & Sierra 2500HD / 3500HD
    Years: 1999 – 2010
    Includes all 'Classic' body styles.
    Express & Savana 2500 / 3500 Vans
    Years: 1996 – Present (2025)
The vans never switched to the metric 8x180 pattern.
    Suburban & Yukon XL 2500
    Years: 2000 – 2013
Also includes the Avalanche 2500 (2002–2006).

2. The Modern SRW: 8x180mm
Introduced with the 2011 frame upgrade to increase payload capacity. This pattern is not compatible with older wheels.
  • Silverado & Sierra 2500HD
    Years: 2011 – Present
Silverado & Sierra 3500HD (Single Wheel Only)
    Years: 2011 – Present
    Does not fit Dually models.

3. The Modern Dually: 8x210mm
This massive bolt circle was created specifically for the post-2011 Dually trucks to support class-leading towing numbers. It is unique to the DRW (Dual Rear Wheel) models.
  • Silverado & Sierra 3500HD (Dually Only)
    Years: 2011 – Present

Technical Specifications

Vintage Truck Note: While modern trucks use metric M14x1.5 studs, vintage Chevy trucks (C/K series pre-1999) often used imperial 9/16" or 5/8" studs. Always verify thread pitch before buying lug nuts for older vehicles.
